please please find me something to read

I haven't been able to get into a book lately. I don't know what that's all about because I'm bringing home what I KNOW are great books from the library, but I just can't get past the beginning. And then three weeks are up and it goes back in the book drop.

I guess the last book I read all the way through was Jennifer Egan's Look at Me. That one I couldn't put down.

Since I'm dealing with some 'saggy middle' in my own book right now, I suppose this should all give me a lot to think about. How do you propel that super-busy, super-tired, overscheduled reader to NOT GIVE UP ON YOU??

  1. Love the look of your new blog, Katianne (BTW, your name is lovely). :)

Great post! I guess I just try to always have something upping the tension in the book; either relationship issues or the outside world creeping in to cause trouble. Whichever way, as long as your MC is constantly growing, the arc will sustain the story.

BTW, what genre do you write? I'm YA fantasy/paranormal and some adult literary fantasy, too. ;)

  2. I love the line about the MC growing. That's a nice, tangible way to think about it.

    I write literary/commercial fiction....

I wanted to tell you that I LOVE the trailer for Splintered. It's absolutely gorgeous.
